Young Ghost-Busters: A Day at the Museum
In the framework of the Kids University, the ARTos Foundation is organizing the already established crash course for kids 7-13 years old on December 27th, 28th, 29th and 30th, 2010 at the ARTos Foundation. An invitation to a magic journey of knowledge, adventure and
creation.
This original kid’s workshop for young Scientists-Creators under the title «Young Ghost-Busters: A Day at the Museum» is a unique opportunity for 4 days of free navigation within the space of arts and science. Through the various activities, the kids will have the opportunity to create and invent with the use of photography and theatre, a new look for the State Gallery.
Through the educational multidisciplinary activities, the kids will be called upon to create in the context of the arts and sciences in the workshops:
Tai chi is an internal Chinese martial art practiced for both its defense training and its health benefits. It is also typically practiced for a variety of other personal reasons: its hard and soft martial art technique, demonstration competitions, and longevity. As a consequence, a multitude of training forms exist, both traditional and modern, which correspond to those aims.
Theatre-creations: making small plays: creation of stories through theatre games and activities, under the expert guidance of theatre professionals. The aim is group building, confidence building and a development of their creativity.
Creating photographs (the art of photography) through a workshop that will be run by professional photographers within the premises of the Foundation. During the workshops the kids have the chance to design story boards and story lines, to design costumes that belong to their world or their made-up world. The costumes can be made up from old clothes.
Visiting / changing the State Gallery during a visit at the Stage Fine Arts Gallery in Nicosia. The purpose of this excursion, which will take place during one of the days of the Kids University, is for the kids to become familiar with art forms and their “entrapment’ within the space of a gallery / museum. So the kids try to redesign the space, by making up stories about its rooms and making machines and contraptions that will transform it. Thus they will change the way it looks, its use, its colors, shapes and even its usage.
Christmas stories in the Gallery: the kids will be given the opportunity to make Christmas stories about the space of the Stage Gallery, and will display them with the use of photography and technology. A new world is born.
