After 3 weeks of showing in Cyprus KCineplex cinemas across the island last December- finishing in the 4th and 5th place for two consecutive weeks in the Top 10 Box Office Hits – “The Last Homecoming” continues its way to success.
In specific, the film has been chosen as an Official Finalist at the 2009 Canada International Film Festival. A maximum of only 20 films in each competitive category were selected at Official Finalists from well over 1000 films submitted worldwide. The 2009 Canada International Film Festival will take place in Vancouver, Canada in February 2009.
Also, “The Last Homecoming” has been invited to be the official representative of Cyprus in a European film event taking place on May 9, 2009. UGC cinemas, one of the largest cinema chains in Europe, will co-organize this European film showcasing event – Euro Ciné Cité 27 – taking place in six cinemas across four countries. It will feature one film per European Union country in six UGC cinemas based in Paris, Strasbourg, Lyon, Brussels, Rome and Madrid.
Moreover, the film is invited to represent Cyprus in the 12th Annual European Union Film Festival, which takes place in Chicago from March 6 through April 2 and
is organized by the Gene Siskel Film Center, a cinematheque that is a department of the Art Institute of Chicago. In the twelve years since its founding, the European Union Film Festival has become the largest and longest-running event devoted to the film production of European Union nations in North America. The EU festival attracts a sophisticated and influential audience and is a great source of word-of-mouth publicity for new films.
“The Last Homecoming” is expected to be released in 2009 in the United States and Canada by a well known distribution company based in California.
